Regina Marzlin, Dreamtime
In my dreams, I see elusive shapes, light and dark. Images are fleeting in and out, without meaning, still they evoke certain emotions and moods. The soft colours and organic forms are reminiscent of real things, but I won’t remember them after I wake up from my dream.
Materials: cotton fabric, acrylic paint, gel printing plate, paper and flax fibre resists, embroidery floss, threads
Techniques: monoprint, piece, machine and hand stitch
I decided to frame each of the 12 pieces individually with a binding. The binding colors vary and were chosen to enhance every single artwork. I then attached all pieces to a screen mesh background with a gap of approximately one inch between pieces to give them breathing space and preserve their individuality. The final composition was carefully chosen to achieve a visual flow and coherence between the artworks.
